Water SAFETY COURSE

Safety in and around water is a key issue in all overseas expeditions. This two day course will focus on giving expeditioners the skills to assess the dangers of different water environments ranging from streams, rivers through to coastal and beach situations.

The course is written and directed by White Water Rescue Trainers, Beach Lifeguards & International Mountain Leaders with huge experience of the environments in which the course will be delivered. Although based in South Wales, the course will travel to a number of water locations (river, swimming pool & sea) ensuring the delivery of as many aspects of water safety training as necessary. As with our other safety courses the focus remains on everyday skills and appreciation of the environment.

Who is the course suitable for?

  • With the expedition industry looking for more skills for their leaders in the area of water safety it is likely to be of particular interest to expedition leaders looking to enhance the safety of their groups.
  • It will also be greatly valuable to travellers or researchers wanting to know the warning signs of what dangers to look out for and how to avoid them.
  • Teachers going on expeditions where water may be encountered and therefore would like to feel informed and confident about such environments.

The essentials to safe assessment and management of water environments:

Although not aiming to make you into a water safety technician overnight this course is a suitable introduction to working safely at and in the water margins whilst either in the mountains, at the pool side or on the beach. It aims to give you an awareness of safety issues and allows you to carry out research or work with teams/groups safely in this environment.

FULL TWO DAY COURSE ONLY £175 (£150 for students)

NB it will be possible to hire wetsuits if required for a small additional fee. The course will also travel around the area to look at different water environments. It is anticipated that clients will have sufficient cars to transfer from one site to the other.
