7 day trip - exploring the beautiful and dramatic sandstone deserts of Sinai.
Fieldskills joined up with Sam McConnell last year when he worked with us to develop our UK one day desert training course. Ever since we have been plotting a longer trip in Sinai, a beautiful area where Sam has travelled extensively and Dom also worked leading groups over the last few years.
The trek we are planning will start at Wadi Nasb near the coast and wind its way up onto the El Gibi plateau. Crossing the plateau we pass the ancient ruins of the Nawamis and finally finish at the oasis of Ein Hodra.
For the duration we will live with and like the Bedouin and travel in a way that hasn't changed since the Old Testament.
This expedition is about spending time in the environment - not a marathon trek across the desert. You will learn new skills about living and working in the desert and learn more about the environment itself. Alongside this will be the challenge of living out of basic campsites, trekking around 15km a day and the peace, quiet and beauty of the desert.
Each day during the expedition we'll wake just before sunrise and after a quick cup of tea and a biscuit we load up and head off. The morning trek is the most important as we have to find shade by midday.
We walk three to four hours (depending on terrain and ability of group) and then lay up during the heat of the day. After a large having a large brunch we will have time to go over the mornings trek and recap on any questions.
As the afternoon starts to cool we will walk a further two or three hours, before finding a good camp for the evening.
So if you are looking for something very different, learning about and experiencing this fabulously beautiful environment sign up now for our Sinai desert adventure.
