Outdoor first aid 2 day course

This course extends the essential core skills of the 1 day course. It is ideally suited to those who work or play in the outdoors and may have to deal with first aid incidents when at a distance from emergency services. We will therefore consider practicalities such as stabilising and sheltering casualties in the outdoors:

  • The course will provide vital first aid essentials such as CPR and Accident Procedures and consider the practicalities of these protocols in the outdoors.
  • The course is a 16 hour outdoor course and therefore meets the requirements of NGB qualifications such as ML and SPA.
  • Our courses are certified and regulated by an HSE approved provider.
  • It is also certified by the QCA and appears on the NQF.
  • It extends the core skills of the one day course to look at major injuries such as dealing with broken bones and head injuries.
  • As with all our courses we will use our experience of working in remote environments to look at the practicalities of applying these core skills in the outdoors or when operating in remote environments.

Course Content:
Accident Procedures: Essential life saving systems for assessing and treating unconscious casualties.
Resuscitation and choking: Applying the latest protocols to deal with non-breathing casualties.
Bleeding: We will look at dealing with major bleeds.
Major Injuries: We will look at major injuries to the head, chest, limbs and spine.
Insulate and Shelter: We will consider how to manage your casualty until help arrives.
Scenarios: We will use both indoor and outdoor scenarios to give extensive practical experience of dealing with first aid incidents.
